Nosetip reconstruction after (several) failed nosejobs overseas using silicone implants, which got infected and needed to be removed leaving a huge defect in the nose tip. Further surgery was not an option for this patient so we grew back the skin using a sequence of lasers.

80 years ago today, a starved Malta was on its knees surrounded by a ‘ring of steel’ and about to capitulate to Nazi Germany. The stubborn islanders would rather all starve to death than submit to a tyrant. More bombs fell on Valletta in a month than the entire Battle of Britain. Protected by just 3 planes, named Faith, Hope and Charity, just one tanker, the Ohio, got through. The siege was broken in a decisive victory for Europe.
Moral of the story: to my students: you do not need a million chances to succeed. Not even 1%. You just need one chance. To my colleagues: Whenever you think we are too small to make a difference, try spending a night with a mosquito. To those who still think we are walk overs, don’t mess with the Maltese😎

In the midst of a busy summer it’s important to remember to relax. Both with family and with this lot….. 35th year anniversary of prep school year 1989.
Good accuracy and precision in surgical practice is nearly impossible without good mental health and part of that is knowing when to unwind.
For those of us who grew up working 38 hour stretches as housemen, it’s a concept almost alien. As we reflect back we learn and we change our practice, learn from our mistakes, take stock of our strengths our weaknesses and we improve.
Five years ago @Skinsurgeon decided that people are best served internationally and expanded to our Malta base, and our clinic in Harley Street London. What a journey it has been! We haven’t only upheld the highest of standards but set new standards in plastic surgery and laser surgery.

Meet professor Ernest Azzopardi
Ernesto qualified in plastic surgery FRCSPlast in 2018 after a distinguished training period which saw him bag the #hunterian , #syme and #BAPRASpresident medals. Thereafter he completed the coveted #baaps cosmetic surgery fellowship in central London.
Prof Azzopardi’s love for lasers started well before, starting under the wing of the celebrated Max Murison in 2012, and thereafter being one of the final TIG laser fellows at the Welsh Laser Centre, subsequently fellow to Dr Matteo Tretti in Milan making him one of the UK’s very few properly trained laser super specialists. He is widely respected by his peers.
In 2019 he was asked to take up the position of BAAPS Laser lead and has worked on the UK’s first nationwide cpd program. He now consults in London @londonwelbeckhospital and @harleystreet as well as in #Malta EU
Ernesto is a committed plastic surgeon who has treated celebrity household names with the same dedication as every patient deserves. His main interests are scars and aesthetic minimal access laser procedures.

Today 20 years a doctor, a journey from 2004. I can only thank my family and my work family, mentors and friends for being with me through thick and thin, literally following me to the back of beyond and back again.
Lots has changed in the practice of medicine and surgery. I guess we were the last generation to use pen and paper, the last to have to get 6 straight "A" s to get into med school, the last to have negative marking. But good ethics and good practice never change, which is why I try hard to pass them on to the next generation. Why I love teaching.
I could not have done it without you. Here's to 20 more🤗
